The news abut needing new gas plants in the UK a couple of days ago, mostly missed the actual documents, linked below; they're pretty thorough - but more importantly the need for the replacement gas plants is the least interesting thing in them; failing to kill off marginal pricing is a bigger pain; but it does seem like they tried and found everything they tried failed; the best idea they have is a split pricing system that should make the marginal pricing better:

“Simply, there is no way to be cool,” [Pissed Jeans singer] Korvette concludes, “especially when you’ve hit a sixth album. We’re clearly not new; we’re old, we don’t care. It feels cool to not want to be cool. It’s the best. It’s the beauty of not feeling inclined to impress anyone, no need to show that you deserve anything, that you are punk or edgy. It’s embarrassing to try too hard. We're more comfortable in our own skin.”

Hey, seasoned international travelers, have a moment to give advice? I’m wondering whether this “provide all your passport details” web form from KLM is worth filling out.
It promises to “speed up the check-in process at the airport.” As a software person, the offer I hear is “make your sensitive data pass through even •more• systems with heaven knows what security characteristics.”
If doing it at the airport is 5 min, I’d prefer that. If that’s asking for a headache, then OK, f…

Screenshot of KLM website, saying “Add a document: Upload your travel documents now and speed up the check-in process at the airport.”
Passport details form asking for name, DOB, nationality, passport number, etc.

I’m a sucker for procedural #journalism films (The Post, She Said, and Spotlight, which won the Oscar Best Picture in 2016) so I watched Netflix’s Scoop, which is about the infamous BBC Newsnight interview of Prince Andrew in the wake of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. I had the fortune (?) of not having seen this interview so it was interesting seeing how it all came about. The film wasn’t as good …

Movie poster of the 2024 film Scoop depicting three women looking at the audience with the back of a man’s head with white hair in front facing them. The tagline at the top says “One interview can change everything”. Other text at the bottom states:

Keeley Hawes

and Rufus Sewell
